Little Sahara State Park OK
The Little Sahara State Park of Oklahoma offers many square miles of sand
dunes that are frequented by 4WD vehicles plus many other types of off road vehicles such
as dune buggies and motor cycles. The sand can vary from a soft deep sand to a very
firm sand depending on the recent weather and rain. The park is in NW Oklahoma and
located a few miles south of Waynoka OK on Hy 281.
The park has some rule for access by full size vehicles as follows:
- Must have a roll bar. The factor steel top on vehicles such as Cherokees, Broncos, etc do not qualify.
- A 10" X 12" flag mounted such that the top end must be at least 10 feet above the ground. The flags and a pole can be purchased at the park
entrance if you did not bring one. This is essential to providing visibility for vehicles
cresting a hill when another vehicle may be approaching from the other direction.
These same flags can usually be found much cheaper wherever they sell bicycles
(such as Wal Mart). The park entrance has an overhead bar that your flag must touch
to prove it is high enough.
- No glass containers allowed in the park.
- No alcohol allowed in the park.

Tall sand dunes are plentyful to play around on. Recent moisture made the sand fairly firm for this trip. Great day for playing in the sand. |
