Tails from the Trail by Maria & the pony she named “Wildfire”.
On a beautiful, yet unseasonably cold, morning a large group gathered at McDonald’s in Eufaula.
The trailers found a lot beside the lake, offloaded, then met the rest of the group at the trailhead.
We split into 2 smaller groups due to the excellent turnout. One
group took on power line road first while the second group got really dirty first. Both
groups had a pretty good mix of Trailchasers
and Hardcore vehicles. My group hit power line road and had a great time with rocks and gullys. There
was body damage such as a
broken tail light and scraped paint/Rhinoline but no serious breakage.
The most help anyone needed was a small tug out of the mud. Both groups met at the lake where 3 vehicles,
Hardcore’s Scout and Suzuki and Trailchaser Ken’s Ford, washed the undersides
and floorboards in a rather large “puddle”. From there we left together for more romps in the mud, gully crawls, and
strained attempts at a slick hillsides. Hardcore had 2 vehicles successfully climb the slick hill.
A few Trailchasers gave it valiant attempts.
Together again, we headed for powerline. Just a few
assists and everyone made their ways to the top. There, a few vehicles took a slightly more challenging
route with everyone perched on the rocks around to cheer them on. The group started dwindling and
just about everyone was ready to call it an evening. Ken,
however, just couldn’t resist another rock.
One last, very large, rock. Cool. Very cool. Great run, I’d have to say.
